Hey there, you – mompreneur (that’s a mom +entrepreneur).
Starting and building a successful business isn’t easy. If it were, then 80% of businesses wouldn’t fail within the first year of launching and a staggering 50% wouldn’t fizzle out after the 5 year mark. If you want to check my numbers and where I got my stats from, feel free to head on over to the Bureau of Labor Statistics to see more.
I’ve always had a love for books and reading. I have my parents and my older siblings to thank for that. And now that I’m even older, I’ve come to find that there are so many hidden gems in books and the greatest gift of all is that they aren’t too costly! You can find so much knowledge, adventure and life experiences between the covers of a book.
As I started on my entrepreneurial journey, I found a few books that I believe are worthwhile for any mom to get as an investment in herself. Here are the 5 books that I recommend for you this year!
Book #1: START WITH WHY by Simon Sinek
I had never heard of Simon Sinek until I started diving in deep into the world of learning about entrepreneurship and stumbled across this title as I was going through social media one day (namely LinkedIn) while following some of the greatest women who have inspired me in my journey so far. Needless to say, I was very excited to read this book because of the raving reviews that I had read about the impact that Sinek’s words and perspective could have on my life and business. So, like any good woman, I went straight to Amazon and ordered this book. Once I got it, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Simply put, Sinek wants his readers to pursue work that is meanignful to them. And once you are able to do that, you’ll find that that is when you’re really living.
Book #2: ASK by Ryan Levesque
This book sounds too simple to be good but that’s the farthest thing from the truth about this one. In this book, Levesque reveals his secret formula that he’s used with hundreds of companies to generate millions of dollars in sales. The best part about this formula is that he walks the reader along a path that shows her how she can use this formula to find out *exactly* what her audience wants to buy from her so that she can create that product (or service) and make raving superfans out of them!
Book #3: BE A PEOPLE PERSON by John C. Maxwell
And they matter most.
Above all else the relationships that we forge or forgo with others will play an incredibly significant role in how successful we become in achieving the goals and dreams we have ourselves. Maxwell teaches sound principles that every leader will want to take to heart and put into action whether she’s leading her home, business, ministry or anything else in between.
Book #4: MAKE YOUR BED by Admiral William H. McRaven
Making your bed is as simple as it sounds. The key to this easy but great read is that it reminds us that simple discipline in our lives can lead to big results. Admiral reminds us that we don’t have to shy away from small tasks or small beginnings because they will help us reap major rewards if we keep up the daily task of doing the little things right.
Book #5: THE ONE THING by Gary Keller
Gary Keller draws you into his book about focusing on one thing and one thing only to help you gain exponential results in whatever you’ve got your eye on. When you take the time to read this book, you’ll find your mindset changed and your life.
This list is not an all-inclusive list of every book on business or leadership, but it is a list that has helped me on my journey thus far and countless others. So, what are you waiting on? Head on over to Amazon or your favorite book store and order these books if you don’t already have them in your library and get to reading! I’m sure that they will change your perspective, life and business.
